When we arose every morning we said God I repent this morning, Lord forgive me of the things I have done against your will, forgive me of the places I have gone against your will, Lord I Repent.
However, what is more important that repenting is the steps we are taking to ensure we do not have to repent for the same things, knowing what steps to take to ensure we are not returning again and again seeking freedom from the same bondage on a daily basis.
Since you last repented, whom did you call and say I forgive you, God loves you, how are you? Are we repenting with grudges? Are we repenting and not speaking to members of our household, village community etc. knowing that they stumble just like we did or still are struggling.
Today, say Lord go before me today in every area and every aspect of my life to avoid me stumbling, Lord stay with me in my thoughts words and deeds today so that they can be pure, Lord allow your angels to guide me as I speak so that I speak no guile, Lord thank you for blessing my table so that every meal we eat here is sanctified, Lord thank you for the overflow in every area of my life. This is the posture that will stir up growth. We should not have to seek forgiveness for the same things every day.
Repentance is a must because sometimes we don’t even know when we offend God but we need to be sure there is growth in our daily repentance, otherwise it will just be a ritual of repeated dry meaningless repentance at an appointed time, just saying Lord I repent for the sake of it with no depth.
If we do not mean it we will have repentance on our mind while sinning knowingly. Yes we will do and say things that we know by the spirit of the Lord that are within us that are not right because we know at a particular time later or tomorrow we are going to repent. If that is your style I’m more than certain you are going in circles with no growth, and mocking God’s system.
So don’t be a dry meaningless repenter. Grow from your short fallings and errors.
Bless you in Jesus name.
