While it is very important to have structure and order in the Church, Membership can become our biggest downfall in terms of our growth and development especially if dictatorship has entered the Church.
Godly Leaders are supposed to lead with Empowerment, Providing Opportunities for the Growth and Development of each Believer, Identifying their God given talents and making way for full expression of the same.
If left with no choice we can easily all become slothful in our capacity to function according to the Ministry we are all called to give birth to.
We can become so reliant on being told what to do by a man that it hinders the growth of our spirituality and reduces our connection with God in Heaven.
Always having to await permission to execute a particular task in the Body of Christ can also reduce our walk in the boldness of Faith that God has given us all, this will also disable our ability to maximise our authority which is in Christ and not man.
God’s ways are higher than ours and his understanding is unlike that of man, which is why membership can sometimes become our biggest pitfalls in the area of individual growth in the body of Christ. We have to grow in grace and function outside of the four walls of the Church also.
For the wrong reasons the Church is afraid to lose members, although the main focus should be to strengthen all God’s Ministries, being a support to each other as all belongs to the Lord, in order to ensure we gain new followers of the Lord Jesus Christ. Everything we do should be for his Glory.
In God’s eyes we are one body, so we need to pay less attention to the titles, Church names and Membership lists. Believers belong to the Lord Jesus Christ, may we all grow in grace according to his will without limitation, remembering that each servant can only teach and guide within his or her capacity, yet the Lord’s wisdom and guidance is far beyond measure.
We need to be reminded that we are worshipping, serving and praying together but we are all under the Lord Jesus’s stewardship. Although we submit in a particular place or under a particular leader for a season we cannot break the connection between ourselves and our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. It is in the name of Jesus we are saved, so salute the oil of his servant but do not worship the servant else we have entered into idol worship by serving a human God.
God is raising new leaders in this season by the power of the holy Spirit because a great revival is coming. He will raise whom he chooses not necessarily through the ranks of the Church but based on availability and preparedness. We all are drawn to the Lord Jesus by his power, in which he also heals, teaches and elevates.
God is and will always be God.
