Rebellion is standing against Authority, in this case we are referring to the highest Authority, which is that of the Lord Jesus Christ.
In the following verse, the word of the Lord refers to rebellion as the sin of witchcraft which as we know the Lord also said in another verse suffer not a witch to live; the text reads as follows; 1 Samuel 15:23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry….
Rebellion is an unwillingness to submit which can stem from greed and pride, according to the word of God, greed troubles his own house and pride comes before a fall.
Proverbs 15:27 He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; but he that hateth gifts shall live.
Proverbs 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
People who are born into rebellion serve other Gods, and those that fall into rebellion on their own, find themselves there because they do not want to live according to the laws of the Lord, they believe that it cheats them of the right to do what they want and where and how they want. Others choose rebellion because they are of the opinion that life is already hard enough so why add rules and regulations enforced by someone they cannot see, which is by God who is spirit. Then rebellion can also be thought by parents and guardians either willfully or out of ignorance.
Rebellion is a stronghold, it is a device of the enemy so we have to be aware and pay attention to the early stages in order to nip it in the bud, for example a child that does not follow instructions of parents and teachers, then we will observe that they grow up and go to jobs finding themselves unable to submit to the leadership there, then it will be extended to public spaces where you will find then trying to skip lines and go against everything that seems to go in order and attempts to correct them can persuade and negative reaction or an outburst. There is an overall aura of entitlement and exaggerated self-importance, when matured into adults they may be unable to submit in marriages and accept responsibility for their own wrong.
Rebellious people are great at blame shifting, most times very boisterous and boldfaced in an impolite way. Rebelliousness and Righteousness cannot thrive in the same vessel, it is either good or evil but cannot be both at the same time.
