Beware of the Subtlety

Last Sunday, during the hype period of our local electoral campaign in the community of Speyside, I began to walk around with my placard bearing the name to the candidates and supporting party when I came across a lady attired in the party’s jersey, I jokingly said to her “don’t forget the most important part, the vote”, as I was saying to everyone, she responded by saying “why must I vote for those candidates?”, I then asked the question, “are you not wearing their jersey?”, she said “yea, and that don’t mean I have to vote for them, what will they do for me?” I continued walking with no response.

All this was mentioned to show you the similarity of how the enemy will not show up in our midst with horns on his head, he wants to blend in and not be noticed, the closer he can be is the better he can observe with the intention to steal, kill and destroy, he will wear your clothes, and speak your language appearing to have the same desires as you but his main desire is to steal from you, kill you and or destroy you and your plans to prosper and be at peace.

Which reminded me of the scripture, Genesis 3:1 which says; “Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made”. He is referred to as a serpent because of the subtlety in which he slides in and fits himself where he does not belong, camouflages and tries to blend in with an ulterior motive. He observes for a while, laying still before striking.

Once we know the word and are aware of the devices of the devil we can be in a better position to resist him by knowing what conversations to enter and which ones to walk away from, who to be around and who to avoid, he is “trappy bad”, as I’d like to say.

Not everyone is supposed to be in your circle or eating at your table but if you have to be around them for a while do so by applying Godly wisdom regarding your interaction. Hallelujah Jesus!

Father, we come into your presence and we thank you for giving us all the discernment to know whom to avoid and whom to engage with, sharpen our ability to understand the spirit behind every word and action, in Jesus name. Hallelujah!

Great are you Lord, Greatly to be Praised!
